The Category Manager – CHEF’STORE will provide merchandising support to all CHEF’STORE locations for their assigned categories. The Category Manager will develop and implement merchandising strategies to achieve category sales & margin targets. Coordinate and communicate merchandising initiatives (product, placement, price, promotion), including the development and production of merchandising plans and plan-o-gram schematic. Negotiate with vendors & collaborate with USF Category Managers on product costs, assortment requirements and vendor support. Collaborate with CHEF’STORE operations team on assortment to drive the right local product mix. Align in store product strategy to drive sales of USF’s exclusive brands as well as manufacturer brands. Analyze results to identify opportunities to continuously improve the CHEF’STORE business.
New Ways of Work : This position has been segmented as hybrid meaning the work is a combination of 3 days onsite In Rosemont, IL/ West Linn OR (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and 2 days remotely (Monday, and Friday) as defined by the role segmentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Define assortment strategies and execute tactics to capture sales and profit for assigned categories. Identify and negotiate the best net landed cost for each product. Ensure assortment meets mix and profit required.
+ Develop and execute implementation plan for category strategy, customized for each CHEF’STORE location. Ensure implementation aligns with overall US Foods category strategy and goals of the CHEF’STORE business.
+ Deliver profitable sales through effectively managing mix of category sales, vendor costs, promotions, pricing and assortment offering. Partner with corporate category management to optimize CHEF’STORE product assortment and vendor network. Gauge product penetration, noting slow and under-performing SKUs as well as new growth opportunities.
+ Ensure category margin targets are met through analyzing daily & weekly performance.
+ Communicate and engage regularly with vendors, Store Operations and USF Category Managers.
+ Work on special projects as needed.
+ Assist with development of store layouts and adjacency plans.

+ Internal: The incumbent is required to interact with all employees at all levels of responsibility throughout the company.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Primarily work indoors in a climate-controlled office environment. Operate Office equipment, including personal computer and phone.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ 5 years retail/merchandising experience required.
+ Ability to travel 30%, including overnight stays

+ Ability to present/speak effectively before groups of company executives, vendors/suppliers, customers, and/or employees of organization.
+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and possess a general ability to adapt to new software. Must be able to develop, manipulate, format and share spreadsheets for purposes of analysis.
+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
EDUCATION
+ Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college/university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Universal pay verbiage :
Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $75,000-$120,000
This role will also receive annual incentive plan bonus.
