Bodily Injury Negotiator

Our firm in Downtown Los Angeles (Koreatown) is seeking a Case Manager with specific experience in Bodily Injury Negotiation.
You will work directly and support the Personal Injury attorney. In addition, the Case Manager will work with other members of the Personal Injury department, as well as other departments (i.e., Workers’ Compensation, Employment Law, Administration, Intake, etc.), as assigned. In addition, the Case Manager may be tasked with special projects on an as-needed basis requiring direction and guidance by Management and/or other Pod Leaders.
Primary duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and manage approximately 115 to 125 pre-litigation matters with the assistance of the assigned pod leader and Firm support staff;
- Interview clients, witnesses, and law enforcement officers;
- Contact third-party and first-party insurance carriers to open insurance claims;
- Open Medi-Cal and/or Medicare claim on behalf of the client;
- Gather police reports and other supporting evidence;
- Conduct research on third parties, including asset search, policy limits, etc.;
- Request, receive, and document medical information;
- Assist client in resolving client’s property damage claim (i.e. set up inspection, reimbursement for storage and tow charge, reimbursement for rental expense and/or loss of use, and coordinate execution of property damage releases and payment);
- Communicate and correspond with the client regarding medical treatment and current symptoms;
- Communicate and correspond with the claims adjuster and treating medical providers;
- Participate in monthly file reviews with assigned Personal Injury attorney;
- Gather all necessary documents for the demand writing team;
- Negotiate settlements with claims adjuster;
- Assist client through the settlement process, including communicating all offers/counter-offers, negotiating reductions with medical providers, drafting breakdown, coordinating with client to review settlement documents, returning fully executed releases to the claims adjuster, and processing settlement disbursements;
- Open and review incoming mail;
- Assist assigned Personal Injury attorney in tracking and submitting all required government claim form(s) for assigned matters;
- Fax, photocopy, scan, and convert or export/import documents to/from other applications;
- Maintain electronic and hardcopy files in accordance with the Firm's policies and procedures;
- Responsible for actively medically managing each assigned matter with Attorney approval, including reviewing medical reports and medical recommendations, assisting with scheduling medical appointments, obtaining referrals for additional medical treatment, appointment reminders, etc.;
- Responsible for actively participating in liability and insurance investigations for all assigned matters, including timely sending spoliation letters to all applicable persons/entities, obtaining photos, videos, witness statements, etc.;
- Responsible for adequately managing all matters involving governmental entities, including timely filing government claims, following up on rejection notices, changing file jackets, etc.;
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management and/or Pod Leader.

- This position requires physical activity including, but not limited to bending, stooping, repetitive motion, and lifting of up to 20 pounds (lbs.). In addition, lifting heavy items and transport/guide up to 100 pounds (lbs.) of material on a cart is sometimes required.
Qualifications:
- Possess a working knowledge of personal injury pre-litigation matters;
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in a Personal Injury law firm;
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel) and other applications and/or systems (i.e.,
- Adobe, Internet);
- Professional appearance and “get it done” attitude;
- The right candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, is required.

- Base Compensation: $30 - $38 hr.
