Carpenter (Reconstruction Tech) - Advanced DRI

Advanced Disaster Recovery, Inc., is a leading restoration contractor in the NY/NJ/PA/CT area with more than 35 years of experience in disaster restoration, is looking for motivated, service-centric full-time employees to help grow its team of professionals in the region. We provide restoration services - such as emergency response, emergency pre-planning, construction services, catastrophe response, contents restoration, environmental services, mold remediation, fire and smoke damage, and water damage services - to commercial, insurance and residential clients. We provide services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

About the Carpenter Position:

The Carpenter will be responsible for working on construction projects, varying in size, as well as will be performing hands-on work, including basic carpentry, painting, drywall, etc., and will be managing a small crew.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and stud work
2. Designing and installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation
3. Adding fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges and closures
4. Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit the customer's budget and style
5. Calculating the number of fasteners required for each job
6. Liaising with clients, suppliers and other construction professionals
7. Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations
8. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
9. Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
10. Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
11. Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
12. Lay out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
13. Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
14. Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
15. Build scaffolding and other construction structures
16. Any other duties assigned my manager

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ Years of Carpentry experience
• Basic math skills
• Proficient with tools, measuring instruments, heavy machinery, and electrical equipment
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Physically fit with high endurance
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Adheres to best practices regarding occupational safety hazards
• Communicating with the customer start and end times each day and the status of the project
• Managing the crew to ensure that work is being completed efficiently
• Valid driver's license in good standing
• Satisfactory background check
