Job Description: Perform a variety of diversified carpentry duties primarily in the areas of rough and finish Carpentry. Maintain a working knowledge of building components and codes to facilitate the efficient planning and execution of all construction projects. This position requires basic concept of locks and key maintenance and inventory. Collaborate with Arcadia University Facilities Management Department personnel to solicit expertise of required crafts necessary to complete assigned projects. Individuals will serve as consultant to facility personnel in recommending specific courses of action to attain desired goals. Support the daily operations of the department and day-to-day operations as needed. Provide support 7:00 am through 3:30 pm (Monday - Friday). Hours may vary according to the schedule. This position is deemed essential, which requires on-call and emergency response to campus, as needed.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions: Carpenter
- Comply with all health and safety directives to include the use and/or wearing of personal protective equipment.
- Work from written requisitions or verbal instructions.
- Prioritize urgency of job requests
- Design and layout counters, shelves, and cabinets.
- Lay out walls, doors and windows from sketches or drawings.
- Repair doors.
- Install carpentry products.
- Install suspended ceilings.
- Plan and make temporary installations of scaffolding, platforms, partitions, etc.
- Remove and replace vinyl tile.
- Build forms for concrete, and place reinforcing steel for small projects.
- Patch holes in walls.
- Install hardware and locks as assigned.
- Operate a variety of power and hand tools.
- Install movable partitions.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Follow standard and prescribed safety regulations.
- Attend facility-sponsored training in fire safety, right-to-know, chemical hygiene.
- Assist with snow removal as situation demands.
- Report defective materials, faulty operation of equipment, and unusual matters to supervisor and appropriate personnel.
- Inspect and diagnose problems and figure out the best way to correct them.
Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. - Follow standard and prescribed safety regulations.
- Attend facility-sponsored training in Fire Safety, Right-To-Know, Chemical Hygiene, Lock Out-Tag Out, and First Aid.
Additional Responsibilities: Locks / Key Management
- Perform skilled locksmith work by installing, maintaining and repairing different types of building locks including cylindrical, unit, mortise and rim, and reload cylinders; cutting new or replacement keys for authorized personnel as requested on Key Request forms; repairing locks on desks, file cabinets, display cases, and similar containers; picking locks for which keys have been lost; repairing or replacing door closure panic hardware or ADA openers; and making emergency repairs of locks as required under emergency conditions.
- Assist in maintaining Master Key Systems for University security by keeping accurate records of hardware changes and new lock installations in each building, and repairing, maintaining, and reloading cylinders for locks in the master key system.
- Provide assistance during renovation of existing or construction of new facilities by determining the requirements for locking devices and systems from blueprints, schematics, or sketches, making recommendations for such systems based upon knowledge of available products, and installing or monitoring the installation of locking devices or systems on renovated or newly constructed facilities.
- Ensure that an adequate and appropriate stock of locksmith supplies and equipment is available for use by maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment including key blanks, lock parts, levers and springs, knobs, and cylinders, preparing requisitions for replacements items as necessary, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five-year recent experience in trade

Physical Demands
- Ability to be exposed to hazardous physical conditions (i.e., confined spaces, heights, mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.), poor atmospheric conditions (i.e., fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation), extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noise.
- Must be able to exert up to 100lbs of force occasionally, and/or 50lbs of force frequently and/or up to 20lbs of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must have the ability to travel to various locations, both on and off campus.
