Restoration Tech
A restoration technician's job is to repair and restore properties damaged by water, fire, mold, or other events:
- Assess damage: Visit the site to assess the extent of the damage and the scope of the work required
- Remove debris: Remove debris and items from the area
- Repair damaged areas: Repair damaged areas, such as carpets, floors, and walls
- Clean and deodorize: Decontaminate and deodorize indoor space
- Restore structure: Repair and restore the structure, including removing and replacing damaged drywall, plumbing, and related materials
- Maintain tools and equipment: Maintain and store tools and equipment
- Help customers: Help customers with complaints or questions about timelines, invoices, and expectations
Restoration technicians should have excellent communication skills, be physically fit, and be able to work well as a team. They should also have a good understanding of safety standards.
Education and training requirements for restoration technicians include:
- Previous experience in construction, maintenance, or a similar field
- Training, which is often provided on-the-job
- Certifications or licensure in safety programs
