Hello! Thank you for your interest in joining the Wellspring team as a per diem Caregiver Supervisor. As a Caregiver Supervisor with the Saginaw Senior Living Campus with Wellspring, you’ll be part of a team of nurses, CNAs and senior support staff committed to helping seniors and families in Saginaw. In this position, you'll be directly supporting your community in Saginaw County to provide services to seniors. In this position, you'll bring a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license registered with the State of Michigan - required. You will also bring additional experience as a caregiver/CNA supervisor and experience working with seniors in a long-term care setting.
As a Caregiver Supervisor, you will:
- Work to provide coverage 24 hours per day and 7 days per week for call-ins and
arranges fill-in staffing as applicable in coordination with the scheduler - Directly supervises a team of assigned Caregivers on the shift
- Indirectly supervises other Caregivers on the shift
- Work as a Caregiver and/or MAP in assigned location in additions to team leader
duties - Ensure adequate supplies are available for caregivers; reports ordering needs to
supervisor - Document and counsels caregivers on areas in which they need improvement
- Provide performance reviews to caregivers in collaboration with Wellness Nurse
- Ensure new hire and training requirements, including annual trainings, are completed and reviewed with
- Assess residents’ needs, refers for treatment as needed and communicates medical issues and changes to Wellness Nurse
- Collaborate with Wellness Nurse on all medication issues, errors and/or problems as they arise
- Ensure medication error reports are completed and reported to the Wellness Nurse
- Works as a MAP – sets up, administers and records medication
- Ensure daily tasks of Caregivers are completed on time and to the established
standards - Provide and receives report from other shifts
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing the work of the Caregivers
- Evaluate and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
- Identify staff development and training needs and ensures training is delivered
- Maintain records and prepares reports
- Provide assistance to the Wellness Nurse in updating care plans
- Uphold the high standards of resident care by monitoring and ensuring the conditions of health, comfort, safety and well-being of residents and others while providing and maintaining a clean and attractive resident care area
- Evaluate, with staff, the effects of interpersonal relationships with their team and
residents and works with them to maintain - Maintain a presence on units/halls to be available for assistance and coaching as
needed - Act as first responder for falls or injuries of residents while ensuring incident reports are properly completed with timely interventions implemented
- Review employee incident reports and refer to treatment as needed. Coordinate
training and follow-up on incidents as needed - Communicate with families and help resolve issues or concerns
- Coordinate/proved training to empower caregivers to provide appropriate and
excellent assistance and services according to standards of care and safety
