Job Description
As a Caregiver at Midwest Residential, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their daily activities, provide them with companionship, prepare nutritious meals, and ensure a safe, clean and supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Provide care and support to individuals with health conditions and/or physical/mental disabilities, including, but not limited to assistance with personal care/hygiene, toileting, showering, wound care, lifting/turning, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Support individuals in getting to doctors appointments, community activities, social events, and recreational outings. (company vehicles provided if required to drive resident)
- Encourage and facilitate skill development and independence in areas such as personal hygiene, communication, and daily living skills.
- Implement and follow individual care plans, service plans, and daily routines.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, including daily logs, progress notes, and incident reports.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for individuals, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- Ensure resident rooms and bathrooms are cleaned throughout the day.
- Wash resident laundry, including clothing, bedding, etc.
- Foster positive relationships with individuals, families, and other team members.
- Attend training sessions, team meetings, and other professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education in social services, nursing, or a related field is a plus.
- 1 year of previous experience in a long-term care or group home setting preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a DHS background check.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
