Job Summary
The Career Support Navigator will support adult and older youth clients as they navigate career development activities, which include job searching, resume development, interview preparation, and networking, all while using a client-centered approach. Working in a team of three staff members, the navigator will facilitate in-person and virtual career support activities, including one-on-one and group interactions; represent A Wider Circle at outreach events such as job and community fairs, networking events and other partner engagements; engage and coordinate with volunteers to offer additional career support to clients; and continually assess and enhance the content and delivery of career support to our clients.

Essential functions-primary responsibilities
- Support a wide range of A Wider Circle's Career Support adult clients using trauma-informed and culturally-informed principles.
- Inform clients of our services and processes and partner with them as needed to complete key career development goals.
- Conduct information sessions on program services.
- About once per month, represent the AWC Career Support team at tabling events in front of partner agencies and/or the public in the DC metro area.
- Use best practices to assist with job searching, resume building and interview preparation, as well as making appropriate support service referrals.
- Engage AWC career support volunteers and coordinate assignments.
- Record and enter client interactions and goal progress in our client relations database.
- Conduct periodic surveys to assess clients' level of satisfaction of services received.
- Work closely with the Director of Career Support and Senior Program Advisor as a thought partner and for case consultation.
- Refer clients (scheduling) for in-house career counseling and coaching as needed.
- Collaborate with AWC's other programs to ensure a seamless delivery of services to mutual clients.
- Stay abreast of the latest trends and practices in career development by participating in professional development training, career development workshops, webinars, conferences, and other workforce development activities.
- Attend weekly check-in meetings with the Career Support team.

- Proficiency with Zoom, Google Suite, MS Suite, and/or other related software.
Required Experience
- Associate degree in human services, social work, psychology, or related field.
- Two years of full-time employment in a human service, community-based and/or social service organization.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and serving individuals experiencing poverty, chronic unemployment, homelessness, mental health adversity, and domestic violence.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in social work, human services, psychology, or related field.
- Bilingual and/or experience working with Spanish and/or Arabic-speaking individuals
- Experience working with the immigrant population.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm, includes an hour of unpaid lunch. Option to work remotely one day per week. Some community events may take place during the off hours, and flexibility is provided to adjust the schedule to maintain a 40-hour workweek.
Work environment
The Career Support Navigator will have a dedicated workspace to maintain confidentiality.
Physical demands
Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Heavy computer activity and extended screen time.

Travel required
Travel would include commuting to our Ward 8 Hub offices 1-2 days per week and the Silver Spring location 2-3 days per week. Travel to partner/community events in the surrounding DC and MD areas may occur up to 4 times a month.
