Sarasota Memorial Cardiac Services delivers a full range of heart and vascular services — from rapid assessment and treatment of chest pain to a full spectrum of screenings and non-invasive testing for detecting cardiovascular risk factors, and the latest treatment options, including cardiac catheterization, surgery, and rehabilitation.
At SMH-Venice our growing menu of cardiac care services include:
- Cardiac catheterization (including emergency angioplasty for heart attack and induced hypothermia for cardiac arrest and stroke)
- Cardiovascular ultrasound (Echo and Vascular)
- Echocardiogram (EKG/ECG)
- Electrophysiology (EP) Permanent Pacemakers/ICD’s/Bi-V devices
- Nuclear Medicine studies
- Trans-Esophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
The Cardiovascular Technologist role performs cardiovascular procedures in the Invasive Cardiology Department under the supervision of the Cardiologist and/or the Electrophysiologist at a level not requiring constant supervision of the technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment. Assumes responsibility for designated Lab and any procedures performed in that Lab as required. Responsible for basic patient care and quality customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- Requires three (3) years of experience in an Interventional Cardiac Cath and/or Electrophysiology Lab.
- Require that CVT’s working in the Cardiac Cath Lab take call and must be available to be contacted and report to work within thirty (30) minutes.
- Requires graduation from an accredited Health Science program (Associate of Science degree or higher).
- Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS and/or RCES), Radiological Tech (Registered) CV, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RCIS), or RN (RCIS).
- Current licensure or registration in the State of Florida (excluding CVT) (through C.C.I.).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
- CVTs working in the Cardiac Cath Lab must take call. They must be available to be contacted and report to work within thirty (30) minutes.
