The Cardiovascular Instructor will teach didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses in a manner that enables student learning and mastery of course material in the Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography program.
Instructor Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare and maintain course outlines and objectives, instruct, and evaluate students, and report progress on time.
- Participate in student advisement, recruitment, and marketing activities.
- Collaborate with the Program Director in periodic review, program planning/development, and evaluation/revision of course materials to improve the quality of instruction and delivery methods.
- Keep and maintain the confidentiality of students' grades.
- Determine and arrange course needs (equipment, supplies, appropriate textbooks, etc.)
- Communicate with the other members of the team on course delivery.
- Keep respective course files current and complete.
- Attend all scheduled faculty meetings, committee meetings, graduations, or other events as assigned.
- Respond promptly to requests for information or reports as may be required by the Program Director.
- Submit final grades on time as instructed by the Program Director.
- Maintain interest and involvement with research in the instructional disciplines.
- Teach core information and differentiate opinion from fact so the student can make the appropriate distinction.
- Administer student/faculty evaluation forms to classes as directed by the Program Director.
- Participate in college service and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Work experience)
- Must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s preferred
- Must possess ARDMS credentials.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- A minimum of four (4) years of clinical work experience in cardiac sonography
- Preferred experience in instruction, course/curriculum development, design, outcome assessment/evaluation, and academic advisement.
- Evidence of continual professional development and the ability to do continuous scholarly or creative activity
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: (Physical and other Competencies)
- Ability to conduct normal classroom / and hands-on lab courses including operation on sonography equipment.
- Ability to stand or sit for up to eight (8) hours per day and lift fifty (50) pounds. This may include lifting, pulling, bending, and squatting.
- Gross and fine motor skills are required to assist students with providing safe and effective diagnostic sonograms.
- Competence in their respective fields of study.
- Must show promise as an effective teacher.
- Effective communication in the English language, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency with appropriate lab equipment.
- Proficiency in software applications common in higher education environments, such as student information systems, and Learning Management Systems
- Organizational skills: willingness to work with other faculty and be supportive of the College.
- Professional dress and demeanor; positive attitude and willingness to work with other faculty as part of a team and be supportive of the College.
