Job Title: RN - Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU)

Position Overview: Trusted Staffe is seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for the Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) on behalf of our partner, a renowned hospital in San Diego, CA. This role requires specialized experience in pediatric cardiovascular care, including heart transplant experience. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill pediatric patients with congenital or acquired heart conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to pediatric patients in the CVPICU.
- Monitor and assess the condition of patients with complex cardiovascular issues.
- Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed by the medical team.
- Operate and manage advanced life support equipment, including ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate and support families of pediatric patients, providing information about the patient's condition, treatment plan, and post-discharge care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices in the CVPICU.
- Float between various units as required, including PICU, NICU, medical, surgical, hem/onc, medical behavioral unit, and occasionally the Bernardy Center (excluding OR, PACU, and ED).
Qualifications:
- Active California RN license (in hand or pending with ETA of when it will post).
- Minimum of 2 years of CVPICU/CTICU experience leading up to the assignment.
- Pediatric cardiac experience with cardiac training is a must.
- Heart transplant experience is required.
- Willingness to float between units as needed.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
Work Schedule:
- Shifts: 3x12 variable or straight night shifts (to be discussed in the interview).
- Weekend Requirements: 6-weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. For the night shift, it is any combination of Friday/Saturday nights, and for the day shift, it is Saturday/Sunday.
- 13-week contracts.
- Self-scheduling available.
- Requested Time Off 6 days total (must still get 3 shifts in the week), must be available to work holidays.
