About the Job
Provides patient care under the supervision of the Staff Nurse to include but not limited to assisting with ADL's specimen collection (non-invasive), transportation of patients monitored/unmonitored, patient preparation for procedures, and collection of vital signs, IV starts, finger stick for capillary blood glucose testing, prepared sterile tables for procedures and unit specific procedures/tasks which require documented competencies. Liaison for families, staff and physicians. Responsible for fulfillment of Houston Healthcare mission, values and quality commitment. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate resources are available to all internal and external customers.
High School diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of approved course in phlebotomy, licensed practical nursing, emergency medical technician or paramedic or currently enrolled in and participating in the clinical portion of a nursing degree program. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived with experience listed below.
One (1) year experience in the clinical setting as a patient care tech, ED tech, phlebotomist, EMT, LPN, or EKG tech or related position as approved by Director of Cardiovascular Services. Experience may be waived with education/training as listed above.
Current AHA BLS certification. Successful completion of an HHC Basic Rhythm Interpretation Course or CLEP Exam within nine (9) months of hire.
Successful candidates will be subject to criminal background and drug screens.
