Salary Range: $29.3000 - $45.0300 /hour. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, skill level, and education.
The Cancer Program Support Specialist II supports cancer patients, reports on quality of care and process improvements, provides cancer community event support, and advocacy group support.
Patient Wellness Support: Under the guidance of the Clinical Navigator, supports patients with the highest level of customer care and coordinates resources, educational materials, and referral to services.
Works with patients to solve non-clinical navigation issues for patients along the continuum of cancer care. Links patient to appropriate settings and support services available, educates in-house staff and facilities on available services Assists patients and their caregivers with travel and accommodations planning by providing information on air and ground transportation, Hoag preferred hotel rates and guidance on vicinity related questions.
Oncology program services support: Performs data collection, entry, and database reporting by tracking quality metrics supporting the delivery of services to oncology patients and may identify process improvements. Develops power point presentations.
Cancer community event support, and advocacy group support: The Support Specialist II contributes to creating education materials, supports education events and the scheduling of patients, meetings, and events. Participates in events, program meetings and workshops for the purpose of conveying and gathering information required to sustain and improve services.
Interacts and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to educate physicians and staff regarding program elements and program processes. Assist with class equipment and ensures supplies are available, schedules rooms and ensures rooms are ready prior to the classes and meetings.
The Support Specialist may perform scheduling and other front office duties as needed to ensure quality patient care is provided. Assist with obtaining medical records from offsite facilities. Ensures oncology resource materials are stocked and organized. Works with the marketing team to order program collateral needed. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience required.
- A minimum of 4 years in an advanced administrative support or quality support reporting role including report generation, data entry required.
- Advanced communication and customer service skills required.
- Ability to write required. Ability to collaborate and write program materials ensuring a clear and concise message required.
- Database experience and advanced reporting skills preferred.
- Experience with measuring and tracking quality metrics preferred.
