As a Food Service Worker ðŸ•at YMCA Camp Marcil, you'll play a pivotal role in creating a dynamic and engaging environment where every child thrives! 🌟👧👦 Your days will be filled with exciting as you work in the kitchen preparing and cooking meals for everyone at camp. You will be a critical role to our youth & YMCA Staff/Volunteers to ensure they have an incredible week of camp. While assisting in the kitchen and abiding by local county food & safety guidelines, you'll be a beacon of positivity and guidance for our amazing campers, while cooking up some delicious meals! ðŸ³ðŸŒ­â€â€

Must be available beginning June 1, 2025 through August 15, 2025. (Mandatory staff training week is June 1-8)

What you'll do:

• Assist in the preparation of food as the menu indicates including washing and peeling.
• Set up food, supplies and utensils for dining hall distribution.
• Store food and leftovers at proper temperature.
• Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment including: cleaning and maintaining all food preparation and storage areas, wash all dishes, serving and preparation equipment according to regulated washing methods and temperatures.
• Reduce waste, reuse items and recycle as indicated through the camp's procedures.
• Assist in the preparation and packaging of food for use outside the camp dining hall.
• Work with cooks and other staff in reviewing pack out requests to ensure adequate and accurate amounts and variety.
• Prepare and store pack out food according to camp and health code procedures.
• Advise staff on equipment or preparation materials needed for identified menu choices.
• Assist in the cleaning of dining hall and restrooms after each meal, as required.

What we're looking for:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be willing to stand and be in kitchen throughout the duration of your shift
• Must be willing to participate and take part in all performances, i.e. Campfire, LipSync Battles etc.
• You must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations
• Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified, or be willing to get certified during training week
• Must be a San Bernardino County food safety certified, or be willing to get certified during training week
• Must adhere to Camping Services Staff Manual & Hosing Agreement
• Must be available from June 1, 2025 - August 15, 2025. Mandatory staff training week is June 1-8.
