Project Explore: Site Supervisor
Exceptional Family Resources is looking for reliable and energetic site supervisors for our summer day camp, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. We are hosting 3 sites in Onondaga County this summer. Our summer program, Project Explore, is provided for campers aged 12-19 and 20-29 in a 1:2 group setting. There are typically 10-12 campers and 5-6 staff each day of the program. Staff will participate in activities with the campers and should enjoy activities such as swimming, hiking, arts & crafts, and playing games. Each day is spent exploring the community, visiting parks, beaches, and amusement parks. As a site supervisor, you'll play a vital role in shaping a positive and enriching camp experience for a group of amazing campers.
Site supervisor responsibilities include:
- Providing supervision and ensuring the campers' safety
- Providing transportation to and from each day's scheduled activities.
- Assisting with personal care as needed
- Monday morning planning meetings with your supervisor to brainstorm creative activities and ensure a smooth weekly schedule.
- Fostering a positive and inclusive environment for your campers, addressing conflicts and problem-solving effectively.
- Overseeing the completion of daily and group activity forms, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Setting clear expectations for your campers, and fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and fun.
- Have open and honest conversations with campers, staff, and families when necessary, addressing challenges and building resilience.

Hours and days of work:
- Camp runs July 1st - August 23rd, 2024, with mandatory trainings throughout June. Staff work Monday through Friday, 11:30pm-5:30pm and 8:30-5:30pm on Wednesdays (to accommodate longer trips such as Sea Breeze and Strong Museum)
Starting pay: Starting pay is $17/hour
Location: Onondaga County
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old by June 20th.
- Ability to work effectively in a community-based group setting.
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
- No experience required though experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
- New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
Background check, fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the non-profit agency.
