About the Job
The Fluid Head Service technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing fluid heads used in professional video and film production tripods. This role requires expertise in mechanical systems specific to fluid heads.
- Diagnose mechanical and issues in fluid heads using specialized diagnostic equipment.
- Disassemble, clean, lubricate and reassemble fluid head components as needed.
- Replace any worn or damaged parts as needed.
- Repair and adjust fluid damping systems for smooth camera movements.
- Adjust fluid heads to factory specifications, ensuring proper drag and counterbalance performance.
- Test and verify sub-assemblies and major system components.
- Test, repair and maintain PRG equipment using set company procedures and guidelines.
- Reviews part stock levels with service manager.
- Maintains and enters all factory acceptance testing and QC documentation.
- Maintains accurate parts lists for all related equipment.
- Ensures maintenance policies and procedures are met and related paperwork is in order.
- Ensures all equipment repair deadlines are met.
- Cross-trains to assist in different departments as required.
- Keeps work area clean and organized.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime, including weekends and holidays, when needed.
- Other duties as assigned or directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to repair, service, test and troubleshoot fluid heads and related equipment.
- Must be able to read diagrams and exploded views.
- Ability to work flexible hours and work around a changing schedule.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and diagnostic skills.
- Working knowledge of fluid head equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job which include bending, lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to effectively manage time and priorities.
Essential functions

- Order parts needed for repairs as needed.
- Fill out detailed reports and keep records on services that have been performed using TEAM (internal system).

Physical demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Manual dexterity for working with small components and delicate mechanisms
- Visual acuity to inspect fine mechanical parts and read calibration instruments
Required education and experience
- Solid understanding of A/V production equipment and functionality
- 1-2 years of experience working with A/V equipment, specifically fluid heads
- High school diploma or equivalent

The pay range for this position is estimated to be $25-$30 per hour. Actual rate to be determined by the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant combined with location and alignment with market data.
