- Position Summary/Objective:
The Barista has many different roles, but primarily has the proven ability to provide exceptional customer service through quality engagement. The Barista is able to fully demonstrate knowledge of recipe preparation, coffee and tea products, and proper equipment useage and care. The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving all products while creating an individualized experience for each customer. They are the voice of illy stories, sharing them with our guests to help our guests feel enveloped in the illy experience. Baristas are the foundation of building customer relationships and fostering warm, genuine service. The Barista role and the Cashier role are a dual role. Besides cash handling responsibility, the Barista fulfills all other duties involved in daily operations in order to maintain shift standards and to provide guests with a visit that flows seamlessly. The Barista is always upstanding and follows the directives of the caffè bar leadership. The Brista is expected to have the ability to perform Server duties as needed. All team members are expected to support the illy Core Values and to follow the stores Operating Procedures.
- Primary Responsibilities:
Customer Experience:
- Deliver impeccable hospitality to our guests and your fellow teammates.
- Actively work to increase customer traffic and sales through sampling, upselling, suggestive selling, along with other initiatives as directed by caffè bar leadership.
- Expedite and serve sweet and savory foods created by our culinary team. This may include assembly of these treats, delivery and clearing up.
- Be passionate about coffee, food and creating hospitality experiences.
- Present a warm welcoming atmosphere by modelling friendly, respectful, and business appropriate communication with colleagues and guests and by always maintaining a clean and well-groomed personal appearance.
- Respond proactively to prevent guest service situations from escalating.
Skills, Knowledge, Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
Describe specific skill or education levels needed to do this job (i.e., knowledge of marketing; level of education, special licenses, etc.). Indicate the length of time necessary/experience required to be proficient at this job.
Must have basic math and computer skills.
Must have Food Handler’s Certificate.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
