JOB TITLE: Cafe Server
REPORTS TO: Dining Manager
HOURS: 3p-7p or 4p-7p - Will include weekday and weekend hours
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for delivery of food service to residents, guest, and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will accept meal requests, serve food and drinks and interact with patrons. Will serve proper food portions.
- Set up all side work needed for meal service prior to meal times.
- Will set up show plates with the Chef for each meal.
- Will set up dining area for service and will buss tables and clean area at the beginning and end of the day
- Previous wait staff or customer service experience is a plus, but not required
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation while preforming light food prep (plating salads & desserts)
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, with an understanding of the needs of older adults and the residents we serve.
- Skilled in prioritizing tasks effectively, balancing the workload, and ensure all residents are attended to in a timely manner.
- Ability to collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure quality and timely service.
- Proficient in maintaining a neat and organized work area, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness throughout the shift.
- Maintain knowledge of the menu and special dietary requirements.
- Genuinely invested in making the residents experience memorable and are willing to go the extra mile to meet their needs.
- Will use a variety of tools and equipment using traditional methods as well as using the dish washing machine.
- Will stock items in all areas of the Dining Room and retrieve as necessary.
- Will maintain table setting standards and keep tables clean.
- Will follow all cleaning detail daily both in the dining room as well as the kitchen and record.
- Reports all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident reactions to the appropriate licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Responds and reacts in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
- Responsible for protecting any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all Safety procedures and facility Fire, Disaster, and Bomb Threat procedures.
- Adheres to all organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
- Must attend organizational or departmental conferences, meetings and/or in-services as scheduled.
- May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements
Physical requirements: Continuous walking and/or standing, most lifting is of light nature but must be able to lift 25 lbs and must be able to push/pull wheeled serving carts and serving stations weighing 5 to 500 pounds.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
- One or more years of wait staff experience in a food service establishment.
