A Day in the Life of a CADD Technician
You are supporting design document production for a wide range of projects from complex roadways and streetscapes in urban settings to signature trail projects in the natural environment. You will assist the firm's designers to apply industry best practices to produce a wide variety of CADD-based deliverables, from concept to detailed final design plans for construction. You will support our multi-disciplined team to prepare quality, graphically consistent, and technically accurate deliverables. Working with our CADD team, you will advance your skills and assist with training staff in the efficient use of CADD programs and tools, troubleshooting issues, and supporting technical staff. Toole Design currently operates multiple CADD and civil engineering design software platforms, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and Bluebeam.
Qualifications of a CADD Technician:
- Associate degree or Certification in CADD Technology, Engineering Technology or comparable
- years of experience using CADD software for civil or roadway drafting
- Capable of efficiently producing high quality CADD drawings
- Knowledge in configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting MicroStation software
- Experience in drafting construction documents for transportation projects in MicroStation
- OpenRoads Designer experience a plus
- Experience working with workspaces in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer a plus
- Experience working in a CADD consulting environment interacting with internal colleagues and external consultants a plus
- Experience drafting in AutoCAD/Civil 3D is a plus
- Experience with Bluebeam including troubleshooting, custom profiles, and tool chest development a plus
- Experience with corridor modeling using OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D is a plus

Work Schedule for a CADD Technician
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2-3 days per week. The Columbus office of Toole Design opened in 2018 and is in downtown Columbus on Broad Street, across from Capitol Square. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
