About the Job
We are seeking a skilled CAD Drafter/Designer to join our fabrication plant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, modifying, and reviewing detailed technical drawings and schematics used in the fabrication process. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles, as well as proficiency in CAD software.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and Drafting:
o Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings of components, assemblies, and systems based on engineering specifications and design requirements.
o Convert sketches, specifications, and rough drafts into precise and accurate CAD models.
o Prepare and update technical drawings and blueprints for manufacturing and construction purposes.
2. Review and Verification:
o Review drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards and company specifications.
o Collaborate with engineers and other team members to resolve design issues and make necessary revisions.
3. Documentation and Communication:
o Maintain and organize design documentation, including revisions, updates, and version control.
o Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and fabrication staff to ensure design intent and requirements are met.
4. Fabrication Support:
o Provide technical support during the fabrication process, including addressing any design-related issues that arise.
o Assist in the preparation of assembly instructions and technical documentation for manufacturing.
5. Quality Assurance:
o Ensure all drawings and designs meet quality standards and are completed in a timely manner.
o Conduct periodic reviews and audits of CAD drawings to ensure consistency and adherence to design specifications.
Qualifications:
· Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Design, or a related field.
· Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in CAD drafting/design, preferably in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
· Skills:
o Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
o Strong understanding of mechanical and structural design principles.
o Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software.
· Familiarity with fabrication techniques and processes.
· Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
· Occasional lifting of documents and materials up to [X] pounds.
· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
