Job description
Our client is looking to hire a CAD/CAM operator for their facility in Jacksonville. This position offers the chance to become part of an international manufacturing company as they expand their operations within the United States.

Job Summary:
You will be responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs to produce precision parts, using CAM software to convert CAD (Computer-Aided Design) models into machine instructions. This role requires an in-depth understanding of machining processes, attention to detail, and expertise in CAM software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Create, test, and optimize CNC programs to manufacture parts based on CAD models and technical drawings.
- Toolpath Optimization: Use CAM software to develop efficient toolpaths that reduce machining time and increase production quality.
- Setup Documentation: Prepare setup sheets, work instructions, and tooling specifications for CNC machine operators.
- Quality Assurance: Review and verify programs for accuracy, precision, and adherence to specifications before production.
- Troubleshooting: Collaborate with machine operators and engineers to resolve issues during the machining process and adjust programs as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in programming methods and machining efficiency, implementing best practices to reduce waste and improve quality.
- Tooling Selection: Determine appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and fixturing for various materials and machining operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of parts and provide feedback on design modifications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in CAM programming in a manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in CAM software such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, GibbsCAM, or similar, and familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, and grinding.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret technical drawings and 3D models, with strong attention to detail and precision.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot programming issues and make adjustments to optimize production.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and provide clear instructions to machine operators.
- Math Skills: Proficiency in geometry, trigonometry, and basic math as it applies to programming and machining.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification: CAM programming or CNC machining certification is a plus.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
- Technical Skills: Experience with high-speed machining, multi-axis programming, and custom tooling.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
