Title: Cabling Engineer and Estimator
Golden Star Technology Inc. (GST) is seeking an experienced, full-time Cabling Engineer and Estimator to join our dynamic team in Cerritos, California.
Position Overview
As a Cabling Engineer and Estimator, you'll play a key role in designing and estimating cabling infrastructure projects. Your work will directly contribute to winning bids and supporting seamless project execution. In addition, you will assist in validating cabling drawings, designs, and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Sales Account Executives to secure projects and clients.
- Conduct site visits to understand project requirements and client vision.
- Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) and cost-effective solutions for competitive bids or customer requests.
- Design cabling infrastructure systems that meet job requirements and applicable codes.
- Communicate effectively with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Review project specs, perform material take-offs, and estimate materials and labor.
- Work with vendors to price materials and subcontractors for accurate project estimates.
- Assist in project deployment and coordinate with operations for field documentation.
- Support pre-construction meetings and verify design drawings and product specs.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform all other tasks that are required for GST.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in installing, servicing, and maintaining low-voltage cable infrastructure systems (Category 3, 5, 5e, 6, and fiber optic structured cabling).
- Technical Skills: Proven ability to install, terminate, and test various cables and systems, including twisted pair, coax, tray cables, and fiber optics.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to carry 40+ pounds of equipment.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong familiarity with telecommunications systems (voice, data, video), building codes, electrical codes, and communication standards.
- Certifications: BICSI, RCDD Certification preferred but not required.
- Blueprints: Proficient in reading blueprints and specs to deliver solutions that meet project requirements.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management and self-discipline.
- Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), CAD, Visio.
- Licenses: Valid driver's license required.
