Fiber Technician

MUST:
3+ years as a commercial fiber optic technician
Extensive experience in fiber splicing
Highly proficient utilizing OTDR s (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer)
Experience testing with OPM s (optical power meter)
Experience with fault locators a plus
Regular travel to jobsites local to the DMV area
Industry certifications in Fiber Optics/Networks and/or bachelors degree preferred
Valid drivers license and clean driving record required
DUTIES:
Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections, so that a faulty fiber optic system does not destabilize its performance
Resolve, repair and install fiber optics systems, ensuring that they work properly
Examine and replace faulty and/or old fiber optic cables
Organize scheduled maintenance routines
Take care of fiber splicing and rectify fiber optic problem areas
Keep track of the signal strength of different devices including: television, telephone, and high-speed internet
Formulate and maintain system records and system designs
