BACKGROUND: Since 1952, Beacon Group has been creating opportunities for people with disabilities across Southern Arizona, Phoenix and beyond. As a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, Beacon serves over 1,700 people with disabilities each year. Beacon provides job training and placement, supported and center-based employment, and day treatment programs to assist the more than two-thirds of working-age people with disabilities who do not have a job. POSITION INTRODUCTION: Responsible for accurate assembly of contracted jobs based off of drawings and prints. Perform cable assembly job with strict attention to safety considerations and report any defects immediately to supervisor. Because we participate in the Ability One program, preference is given to individuals with a documented disability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to assemble cables per drawings and technical documentation.
- Hand soldering experience, wires, components, etc.
- Hand crimping experience per required specifications.
- Ability to recognize acceptable and defective crimps.
- Drawing interpretation and reading.
- Basic math skills.
- Measurement skills, scales, calipers, micrometers, etc.
- Continuity testing experience.
- Excellent manual dexterity to manipulate small parts.
- Ability to become and maintain IPC-620 Certification with in-house training.
- Ability to become and maintain IPC J-STD-001 Certification with in-house training.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work effectively with staff, clients, and the public.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read assembly drawings.
- Experience with assembly of cables to IPC620 Class 2 standards.
- Experience with assembly of cables to IPC620 Class 3 standards.
- Experience with assembly of cables to MIL-SPEC standards.
- Experience with soldering of cables per J-STND.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted, must be able to communicate effectively, and work effectively with staff, clients and the public.
Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
