Job Summary:We are seeking a motivated and adaptable Traveling Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team. The successful candidate will provide occupational therapy services to patients across multiple facilities within our network, ensuring continuity of care and consistency in therapeutic interventions. This role requires flexibility, strong clinical skills, and the ability to work independently in diverse settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting patient assessments and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Implement therapeutic interventions to improve patients' activities of daily living (ADLs), motor skills, and overall functional abilities.
- Travel to various facilities within the network to provide consistent and high-quality occupational therapy services.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary in collaboration with the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, therapeutic techniques, and strategies to enhance independence and quality of life.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in compliance with regulatory and facility standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and nursing staff, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education opportunities to stay current with best practices and advancements in occupational therapy.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and state licensing board.
Qualifications:
- Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in California.
- Proven experience as a COTA, preferably in a skilled nursing or post-acute setting.
- Willingness to travel to multiple facilities within the network as needed.
- Strong clinical skills in assessment, treatment planning, and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to different clinical environments.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in occupational therapy.
- CPR certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move patients, equipment, and supplies.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and providing therapy.
- Manual dexterity and strength to perform therapeutic techniques and use clinical tools.
- Willingness and ability to travel between facilities.
