Advanced Ground Systems Engineering LLC is a market leader, ISO 9001 manufacturer of ground support equipment. Our facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA serves a wide range of customers who value quality and precision.
We are looking for a Buyer-Planner to join our growing team! The Buyer-Planner will be required to work collaboratively with project engineers on a day-to-day basis, along with operational staff, to create comprehensive build plans and problem-solve for production improvements. The ideal candidate will be looked for technical direction in a fast-paced and highly dynamic production environment. Daily on-site support is required in addition to overtime and occasional weekend support. This role provides a healthy balance between shop floor interaction and desk-bound computing work. This is a support function role and, as such, requires a flexible and helpful approach and a willingness to team cross-functionally to ensure a lean and continuous manufacturing process of our products.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develops, implements, and maintains manufacturing plans, Bill of Materials, work order routers, material cut sheets, work instructions, coordinates scheduling and builds project details as required.
- Identify material requirements, outside suppliers, and lead times for all processes.
- Proactively identifies potential production problems, develops solutions, and implements root cause corrective action processes to resolve or prevent quality defects. This includes working with Engineering during the design function.
- Assists in the investigation and resolution of manufacturing-related issues.
- Collects data to support producibility assessments for part or product designs.
- Develops work statements and sequencing of manufacturing processes through collaboration and partnership with internal business shareholders.
- Reviews, maintains, and monitors internal documents and procedures to continuously improve products and reduce costs.
- Ensure that ISO procedures and work instructions are conformed to on a consistent basis.
- Collaborates with the purchasing department to evaluate and consider make/buy decisions.
- Provides information to the Director of Operations for the purpose of identifying appropriate material and production levels.
- Any other duties as assigned by management.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or higher is preferred, or an equivalent of education and work-related experience.
- Minimum of 2 or more years of experience in manufacturing/fabrication role utilizing teamwork and continuous improvement practices.
- Proven leadership ability in a technical team role and in cross-functional environments.
- Working knowledge on reading and interpreting structural and mechanical drawings. This includes good practices with general dimensions and tolerancing as well as an in-depth understanding of fractional and decimal tolerances.
- Prior experience in analyzing and interpreting technical procedures for planning functions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Solid multi-tasking with the ability to manage multiply assignments concurrently, with an elevated level of detail and analytical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft suite of products (including word, excel, project and outlook). Also familiar with ERP software function and logic.
Work Location: Santa Fe Springs, CA. 100% Onsite work. No remote nor hybrid availability for this role.
Current Department Hours: Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 4:30 pm, may require some Saturdays.

The pay scale for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that AGSE considers in making compensation decisions, including, without limitation: skill set, experience, and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Please note that it is not typical for AGSE employee to be at or near the top of the pay scale for their role - especially as a new hire - and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Subject to the foregoing, the current pay scale for this position is $60k - $80k per year.
