Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Buyer
The Buyer's objective is to manage assigned commodities (either direct or indirect) and is the local contact person for projects. The primary function is to manage costs and support plant needs by following the purchasing process. The Buyer supports the implementation of purchasing strategies with a focus on achieving the lowest prices for all materials, equipment, and services using effective negotiations. The right individual will be highly motivated and energetic.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Buyer
The Buyer's objective is to manage assigned commodities (either direct or indirect) and is the local contact person for projects. The primary function is to manage costs and support plant needs by following the purchasing process. The Buyer supports the implementation of purchasing strategies with a focus on achieving the lowest prices for all materials, equipment, and services using effective negotiations. The right individual will be highly motivated and energetic.
- Responsible for achieving all targets (cost, timing, quality, launch)
- Initiates supplier RFQ process for production material, supplier nomination, and supplier reviews.
- Responsible for negotiating pricing, generating savings and auditing supply base
- Experience negotiating indirect commodities, including MRO, packaging, forklifts, leasing, IT, and facilities management
- Management of dedicated projects
- Generate and monitor Purchasing contracts using the SAP system
- Negotiate Terms and Conditions and optimal supply contracts to obtain the best possible commercial outcome
- Support Purchasing Management with reporting / forecasts
- Lead and support Purchasing Directors/Managers on the implementation of cost improvement projects
- Support Plant Logistics and Manufacturing departments on delivery issues
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience in various procurement functions.
- Cross-functional experience gained in procurement-related functional areas.
- Able to travel up to 25% (required by car or air to visit suppliers or manufacturing locations. SOME international travel may be required)
- Fluent in English, Foreign language preferred
- Good communication skills
- Able to analyze and interpret complex documents responding effectively to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies and/or vendor
- Strong math skills required
- Able to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and communicate results to management
- Detail oriented.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet applications, e-mail, internet, and database software
- SAP exposure preferred
- Position frequently requires more than 40 hours per week.
