About the Job
The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, tools and equipment; reviewing and interpreting specifications and drawings to determine the bill of materials for internal fabrication and/or purchase from third party suppliers. Duties include negotiating with suppliers, researching fabrication options and inventorying materials, etc.
Monitors and reviews requisitions, issues requests for quotes and creates purchase orders using ERP system.
Follows up with suppliers/vendors on current orders to confirm status, ensure order accuracy, timely deliveries and expedites orders when necessary.
Supports and provides coordination of the material planning, purchasing and production scheduling to meet production demands and ensure timely delivery to customers of finished product.
Communicates current/potential supply performance problems (capacity imbalance, noncompliant materials, material shortages, supplier delays and price fluctuations).
Plans and routes all orders to production, generates work orders.
Routinely reviews inventory and stock levels, participates with cycle counts, etc.
Complies with companies policies and procedures, code of ethics and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing or related field with minimum of three years' experience in a fabrication business environment.
Able to apply basic purchasing, production planning and inventory control principles.
Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and prints
Excellent computer and math skills required and proficient with Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP platforms M2M a plus.
Familiarity with sourcing methodology and contracting experience.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
