Edsal Manufacturing is North America's leading designer, manufacturer, and distributor of high-quality steel shelving and cabinets for garage, basement, storage, and commercial storage applications. Edsal was founded and operated as a family-owned and operated business on Chicago's South Side for over 60 years prior to being acquired by Monomoy Capital Partners in 2018. We continue to have operating sites throughout the United States in Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and California.
Monomoy Capital Partners is a private equity firm with $1.5 billion in committed capital across three fund vehicles. Monomoy makes control investments in middle-market businesses in the manufacturing, industrial, distribution, and consumer sectors. Monomoy designs and executes a customized value creation plan for each business that seeks to generate significant cash flow and improve earnings within 12 to 18 months of a Monomoy investment. Since the firm was formed in 2005, Monomoy has grown from its three founders to a firm of over 40 professionals. Monomoy acquired Edsal in 2018.
Job Summary
The Buyer purchases raw materials used to process and manufacture products or to conduct research or other business activities. Monitors and analyzes the commodities market, global economic conditions, and events to make informed purchase decisions. Identifies, evaluates, and monitors suppliers to develop reliable sourcing and ensure the quality and availability of required commodities. Participates in bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet commodity needs. Analyzes inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage purchases. Complies with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods.

Buyer
- Create purchase orders for both US and International Suppliers
- Confirm proper order/transactional execution, data entry, and reporting of assigned products and services
- Review order confirmations from vendors and update the correct pricing in the system.
- Follow up on back orders and past due orders and communicate with end users the status of their orders and expected delivery dates.
- Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability, and other criteria
- Interviewing vendors and visiting suppliers' facilities to learn about products, services, and pricing
- Verifying purchases by comparing them to a master list and recommending alternatives for expensive or irrelevant products
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors
- Authorizing payments and maintaining receipts, records, and inventories
- Work with internal customers and suppliers to resolve issues related to purchased materials, including product/material/service quality, invoicing, and returning.
- Partner with internal customers as well as suppliers to develop and initiate process improvements.
- Work with suppliers to improve lead time along with cost, quality, and delivery
- Maintain and update ERP system information
