About the Job
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Buyer to join our team in LaGrange, GA. The Buyer will play a critical role in managing an annual expenditure base exceeding $1 million for materials and services essential to the company's purchasing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for procurement functions related to both direct and indirect materials, as well as select production materials and services with moderate to large dollar volumes and technical characteristics. The primary objective is to secure products and services at competitive costs, maintain acceptable quality standards, and ensure timely deliveries in line with company policies and performance standards.

Responsibilities:
- Plan, schedule, and execute procurement activities within the established ERP system or as per requisitions.
- Act as an empowered agent of the company with the autonomy to make decisions within defined policies and procedures.
- Source potential suppliers matching the companys requirements for price, quality, and delivery.
- Qualify suppliers in collaboration with management and establish ethical business relationships.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct quality assessments, and participate in supplier visits.
- Utilize ERP planning skills to manage and release planned purchase orders.
- Exercise judgment to maximize cost savings while minimizing inventory risk.
- Validate planned purchase order demand and liaise regularly with Engineering, Project Managers, and Operations personnel.
- Drive cost reduction goals while adhering to company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain and update supplier documentation and contract information, negotiate purchase agreements.
- Source and complete requests for quotes from potential suppliers.
- Review and negotiate contracts in the best interest of the company.
- Read and interpret drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and part specifications.
- Generate and communicate forecasts to key suppliers.
- Research and recommend substitute or alternative items or supplies.
- Adhere to company ISO documentation requirements.
- Bachelors degree in Business or related field preferred, or equivalent experience in purchasing/sourcing within the last 5 years.
- 5+ years of direct experience in purchasing and cost estimating in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, advanced Excel, and data analysis skills.
- Experience with Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems.
- Active CPM or CPIM, CSPC, or related certification preferred.
- Strong planning, organizing, purchasing, and estimating skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet critical deadlines.
- Hybrid schedule, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- $55,000 - $68,000
