SUMMARY:
Buyers are part of Supply Chain Services, supporting Sales and Operations throughout the entire Organization. Daily and Weekly requirements account for most of the responsibilities. Ideal candidates will have experience with MRP software, buying best practices, and supplier management. Position reports to Purchasing Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary duties.
- Perform daily buying requirements for stock purchases and Customer driven demand. Make decisions that benefit the Customer and the Company while satisfying procurement needs.
- Analyze reports to ensure PO accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Communicate with Suppliers regarding Supply Chain functions.
- Work with internal Sales and Customer Service regarding Supplier Orders and Quotes
- Understand and follow appropriate work processes.
- Complete project-based work to identify potential cost improvements, stocking opportunities, and workflow improvements.
- Work within a defined Quality System, including management of Supplier Non-Conformances
- Manage Supplier Records and Documentation
- Collaborate with Data Management, Expediting, Planning and Analytics departments to achieve Supply Chain goals and objectives.
- Other duties may be required.
EXPERTISE & APTITUDES:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand requests and effectively perform responsibilities.
- Microsoft Office: Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively utilize internet resources (requires toggling between systems) to obtain information.
- Proficient skill level using distribution or manufacturing MRP software including experience with Purchasing and Inventory functions. Candidates should have the ability to investigate and understand the workflow and system-generated recommendations.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects with minimal supervision. Desirable candidates will consistently look for new ways in which they can contribute to the growth of the company and career.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent amount of education and related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Distribution or Engineering is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of Purchasing or Inventory experience is preferred.
- Experience in industrial distribution or a technical field is preferred.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (ie. ISO, AS9100, etc.) is preferred.
- Experience with Epicor P21 Software is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The work is sedentary, requiring extended period of sitting or standing to perform the work. There may be some infrequent movement from area-to-area to transport items weighing no more than 15 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to general office environment. Regular overnight travel may be required; work outside normal business hours is required from time to time.
