About the Job
Role:
The Business Unit Manager of Safety reports to the Corporate Director of Safety and Health and provides safety and health support to their assigned business unit to promote and ensure jobsite compliance with applicable safety regulations. The Business Unit Manager of Safety is responsible for implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, assessing risk, and interacting with Business Unit Leadership, Site Management, Client Representatives, as well as Regulatory agencies as required. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing and developing a staff of field safety professionals, managing the incident investigation process, and providing recommendations for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
- Provide Safety and Health support to the Business Unit they are assigned to and assists leadership in ensuring that Cajun's work is meeting or exceeding all industry, regulatory, and company-related programs, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluating practices, procedures, and jobsites to assess risk and adherence to the law, company, and client policy.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Coordinates the administration and facilitation of employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Reviews safety plans and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations and ensures all required safety training is completed. Detects hazardous conditions and assumes appropriate follow-up on unsafe conditions.
- Consults with Business Unit Leadership and Site Management to recommend preventive or corrective measures relating to processes, potential gaps in safety and or personal protective equipment.
- Maintains knowledge of and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Implements internal safety standards and policies.
- Reviews all accidents and incidents reported by employees through discussions with site management, Jobsite visits, and through the companies EHS Insight software. Follows up with employees and managers. Completes applicable steps in EHS Insight to complete and move process forward.
- Will be required to oversee Case Management and communicate with all involved parties as necessary.
- Visits Business Unit projects / jobsites on a frequent basis.
- Working with Business Unit Leadership to continually build and maintain a world class safety culture.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of technology including MS Windows and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to conduct training.
Educational / Experience Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required preferred.
- Safety Certifications Preferred or is working towards achieving.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience preferred.
- Previous experience in industrial construction preferred.
Physical requirements:
- Physically able to conduct audits / inspections.
- Continuously able to work in office/field environments.
- Continuously able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, telephone, and computer printer.
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and
- Able to alternate between sitting and standing, as needed throughout the
- Occasionally able to lift up to 50+ at a time.
- Frequently requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
- Requires the ability to travel occasionally within the Business Unit’s area.
