Job Summary
The Business Systems Analyst III is an intermediate-level role, that serves as a crucial link between business units and the IT department, ensuring that mortgage systems are optimized to meet business needs. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing requirements, testing system enhancements, troubleshooting issues, and documenting processes. The analyst will support both proprietary and mission-critical third-party applications to ensure accurate information flow throughout the company. Their expertise will help streamline loan origination and servicing processes, enhancing overall operational efficiency and success. The Business Systems Analyst III is a predominantly remote role however, may require occasional travel to our Port Huron, MI office for meetings, collaboration or other business purposes.
Summary of Role and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the IT team to resolve issues, enhance applications, and provide daily support, including setup for both proprietary and third-party applications
- Evaluate system design change requests to determine current and future needs, coordinating testing, documentation, training, and implementation.
- Directly responsible for testing and documenting enhancements for both proprietary and third-party applications.
- Develop and maintain written policies and procedures specific to the company's proprietary and third-party applications.
- Work with the training team to create training materials and coordinate sessions for internal users on proprietary and third-party applications.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues related to mortgage applications.
- Collaborate with business teams to understand the root causes of problems, implement effective solutions, and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
- Regularly monitor system performance to proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact users.
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
- At least 5-7 years of experience in the mortgage industry, particularly in roles related to loan origination, processing, underwriting, or operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience with loan origination systems (LOS), point of sale (POS) systems, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Experience with automation rules writing and a solid grasp of the technical aspects of mortgage systems.
- Excellent analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise between business and technical teams.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in technical writing, including creating clear and concise documentation.
- Experience in developing and delivering training sessions for internal users on proprietary and third-party applications.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in using spreadsheets, dashboards, and reports to analyze and present data effectively.
- Capable of writing and optimizing SQL statements for querying databases, extracting data, and supporting data analysis and reporting needs.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a methodical and logical approach to planning work and meeting deadlines.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio for documentation and analysis.
- Working knowledge of database management practices to support data integrity and system functionality.
- Basic understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and code deployment practices to collaborate effectively with development teams.
- Thorough understanding of the company's business processes and the mortgage industry at large to ensure system solutions align with business needs.
