Morgan Stanley Wealth Management provides a range of wealth management products and services for affluent individuals, businesses, and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement, and trust.
Consulting Group (CG) is the retail investment advisory arm of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management with a long-standing tradition of serving clients, from the individual investor to larger institutions, providing each with investment consulting advice and services. CG leverages global resources from across the firm to provide access to advice and investment manager research.
Department Summary
The CG Business Risk team is responsible for developing and implementing solutions for strategic risk initiatives, providing risk-based guidance to the business, conducting advisory program supervision, providing guidance and leadership on risk controls, and producing data solutions and analytics to make informed risk and business decisions.
Position Summary
- · Provide ongoing support and risk-based guidance to business and control partners for the various CG programs and initiatives
- · Perform regular account supervision controls for the CG programs, including the oversight, outreach, and education to ensure adherence to CG policies and procedures
- · Develop queries, prepare and perform analysis of large sets of data using Dataiku, Tableau and/or SQL to identify new business risks, present findings to senior leadership and help make informed business and risk decisions
- · Proactively engage appropriate stakeholders and partners to lead the implementation of enhanced processes and control development for any identified control gaps or opportunities for enhancement
- · Help proactively identify, assess, document, and mitigate new business risks
- · Prepare presentations and present to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Skills/Abilities
- · Undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting or other related fields
- · Experience using tools for data queries and analysis such as Dataiku, Tableau, and/or SQL
- · Strong understanding of Compliance and Audit practices preferred
- · Business Process and control environment experience preferred
- · Attention to detail, high level of initiative and resourcefulness and ability to problem solve, demonstrate good business judgment and integrity
- · Effective time and project management skills to coordinate with key stakeholders across Wealth Management and ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely
- · Strong analytical, quantitative, and investigative problem-solving abilities
- · Self-starter, proactive, high energy and motivated to tackle complex risk issues
- · Data analytics skillset and strong working knowledge of Dataiku, Tableau, and/or SQL
- · MS Office proficiency – particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- · Ability to work independently, fully own their roles and responsibilities front-to-back, promote teamwork and collaboration, and execute sound reasoning and judgment
- · Excellent oral and written communication skills – able to clearly and effectively present to all levels including Senior Management
- · Ability to form relationships and build a network throughout the organization
- · Positive attitude – capable of working well under pressure, solicit and incorporate feedback while delivering on high priority, time sensitive initiatives
- · Willing to obtain a working knowledge of investment and operational risk policies, procedures, and practices
- · Demonstrate an understanding of the financial services industry, investment advisory products etc.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
