As a Business Planner I, you'll partner with a Planner and other team members to execute processes to develop financial and item plans that support financial objectives and merchandise / inventory strategies.

What is the work?
Sales / Strategy:
- Works in collaboration with experienced Business Planner; assists in building financial sales, gross margin, and inventory plans by season, at a weekly level; monitors performance in season; assists in maintaining open-to-buy; recommends strategies to Planner to stay on plan; may independently manage less complex categories
- Supports Buyer / Business Planner to build assortment plan that will deliver KPIs and strategies
- In partnership with a Buyer, develops strategies to maximize sales, profitability; develops commodity / item plans for each assortment to align key goals, metrics (sales, units, inventory, receipts, turn and margin expectations); collaborates with Buyer to ensure assortment plans meet financial, space, Store objectives
- Supports Inventory Analysts in maintenance of productive service levels and Store / Warehouse inventory levels to support sales
Analytics:
- Provides guidance to maximize seasonal, event, and promotional buys within budget parameters; establishes seasonal strategies; identifies missed growth opportunities to Planner; identifies inventory levels needed to support rate of sale based on target sell thru percent, weeks of supply, and life cycle of product
- Analyzes historical data, current trends to identify risks and opportunities by item; identifies best sellers; rebuys / forecasts as necessary to drive sales; recognizes slow sellers; recommends profitable strategies to exit product in a timely manner to Planner
- Partners with Planner, Buyer to prepare promotional and markdown strategy; analyzes impact / effectiveness in season; recommends future promotions / markdowns
- Analyzes merchandise performance at department / item levels (sales, inventory); identifies risks, opportunities
- Develops / maintains period forecasts of sales and inventory for basic and fashion styles; develops strategies to meet department financial goals and updated open-to-buy forecasts in planning system
- Collaborates with Planner to develop / communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities
What is your background?
- A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience
- 3+ years of related experience in inventory management, supply chain, retail business planning, or financial analysis
- Experience managing mid- to large-scale projects
