About the Job
Summary: The Business Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction and implementing business strategies for JCS Sales. This includes design and management of day-to-day operations to guarantee company efficiency for the company's private brands, as well as identifying new opportunities for growth in current and prospective markets.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Execute strategic business plan for private brands to achieve budgeted sales for private brands.
- Managing key supplier relationships
- Support category business planning process i.e., private brand advocate.
- Presentations to category manager; promotional plans, new items, sales trends, plan-o-gram changes, retail pricing gaps, marketing initiatives to enhance private brand sales and margin performance for assigned categories.
- Forecasting of promotional plans to represented suppliers.
- Support special events like food shows and race.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions with a minimum of supervision.
- Must have strong negotiation, computer, and communication skills.
- Must be able to manage in the middle balancing relationships between suppliers and Category Managers.
- Responsible for achieving sales targets for private brands within margin targets.
- Must be able to manage time effectively, with minimum supervision.
- Must travel to multiple store locations or events.
- Develop forecast; sales and margin for promotional activity with the category managers and communicate to represented suppliers.
- Support suppliers with deduction resolution by working with Accounting and Merchandising.
- Manage relationships with Topco sourcing team, manage cost changes, new item surveys and new item presentations.
- Perform job duties adhering to company policy.
- Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure all aspects of company policy and procedures in regards to good business and department practices are followed
- Understand and follow confidentiality policy in regards to company information as well as personnel information.
- Utilize time management skills and prioritization to accomplish tasks through management team and associates.
- Verification, completion, and distribution of vital department reports, management reports, documents, and paperwork via written, verbal, or e-mail to the appropriate individuals as deemed by supervision and/or policy.
- Follow all safety and security measures and guidelines.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred, or significant work-related experience.
- Strong understanding of sales and gross profit targets
- Must possess a high level of attention to detail, be goal oriented, and possess a strong work ethic.
- Understanding of Merchandising and Marketing principles and processes is required to be successful in this position.
- Ability to interpret, understand, and leverage data analytics to make decisions.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with associates, management, and suppliers.
- Proficiency with computer applications and programs including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily.
- Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as additional time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
