The Administrative team at UCI Police Department provides administrative and logistical support to each of the Divisions within the Police Department, including UCI Health and UCI Campus. The team is responsible for the development and management of the Department's budget, asset management, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, records, communications, and front desk.
The team provides support internally to the Department and Universitywide.
Working under the general direction of the Director of Administrative Services, the Business Manager is responsible for the forecast, management, auditing, reporting, and analysis of financial and payroll information. This includes identifying potential concerns, and recommending strategic courses of action. Responsible for purchase transactions, PALCard review, equipment replacement, facilities issues, reimbursements, permanent budget, reconciling ledgers, inter-campus transfers, general error corrections, internal billings, fiscal close process, and time reporting.
Provides support to the Director of Administrative Services, conducts complex financial and data analysis involving special projects, interprets and implements policies and procedures, and provides problem resolutions. Applies advanced knowledge of the online financial and purchasing system to analyze the complex data and how it affects statistical reporting.
Evaluates systems and procedures, and recommends and implements processes for improvement and streamlining. Also provides backup for coverage of front desk, and calendaring to assure staff, vendors, and the public are given excellent customer service.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $96,000-$108,100 (annually)
Required:
- Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze financial and workload data, and develop management reports, forecasts, and projections.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Must complete and successfully pass a law enforcement level background check.
- Must maintain a valid California driver license and will be enrolled into the Department of Motor Vehicles Employer Pull Notice (EPN) Program Notification system.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 3-5 years Budgeting, forecasting, accounts payable and general ledger
Preferred:
- Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
Special Conditions:
- Campus Security Authority (CSA) and as a CSA, persons in this role are required to report crimes, incidents, and disciplinary referral statistics as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC 1092(f)).
- This position is considered a mandatory reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), Penal Code 11164-11174.3 and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in University of California Policy CANRA.
- At times, this position will require working irregular work hours (after 5pm & prior to 7am).
