This Job:
Your Title: Business Intelligence Developer
You'll Report to: Director, Data Insights and Reporting
The BI Developer works closely with the Data Insights team and key stakeholders though out the organization to turn data into decisions. He/she will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of automation and reporting/dashboard solutions. The developer will also act as the server administration SME for a portfolio of reporting and visualization tools. He/she will also provide support to the growing user/consumer community on best practices and standard methodologies. In addition, the developer will work with other members of DI & R Team to determine business requirements and priorities, and contribute to the enhancements and development of team, data, and governance strategies.
What You’ll Do:- Design and build effective and high-performing reporting and analytics solutions.
- Provide advanced expertise for the administration, configuration, and support of Tableau and Cognos Analytics
- Provide change management for Tableau upgrade schedules, releases, and new features
- Provides design support for the development of business intelligence solutions
- Ensure optimal performance, security, and user experience of our Tableau Server/Cognos Server environment
- Manage portfolio of Tableau Server/Cognos and associated applications on Windows, which may include:
- Maintaining and Creating Semantic Data Layers
- Maintaining and Establishing Data Sources and Connections
- Enhancing and Implementing Governance Programs and Standard Methodologies
- Server Upgrades and Maintenance
- Assist data warehouse developers in identifying and revising enterprise reporting requirements.
- Provides input to standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems
- Lead self-service and training initiatives.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, mathematics, finance, statistics or related field.
Experience: Three (3) to Eight (8) Years of business intelligence experience. Experience in property and casualty insurance preferred.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Advanced experience with both reporting and visualization solutions
- Advanced knowledge of SQL
- Advanced knowledge of Data Management and BI & Analytics concepts
- Experience with implementing customer-facing large-scale Tableau and data warehouse solutions
- Experience migrating from legacy to modern data platforms
- Ability to articulate, define, & execute a strategic vision of a proposed architecture
- Experience in developing & enforcing standards in Tableau and Cognos & development best practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, and prioritize workload
Ability to understand, analyze, and articulate both complex business and complex technical concepts
- Superior problem-solving skills
- Experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server & Tableau Cloud administration
- Experience w/ RPA Tools and ETL
- Knowledge of RDBMS (T-SQL) and Python
Working Conditions: Normal business office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers. #LI-InOffice
