GENERAL PURPOSE
The Business Intelligence Developer is an Information Systems Division (ISD) employee who will deliver focused reporting and business analytics for URMC, or in the case of an Embedded Analyst, a specific department (“home department”). The BI developer will partner with the requestor to understand their business problems. Primary responsibilities include development of departmental and ad hoc reports in Crystal Reports, SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL) SSIS, Epic Systems reporting tools or Tableau visualizations. The data sources are typically Epic Clarity / Caboodle data sources.
Specific to a BI Developer in a Department Embedded Position: The BI developer will partner with home dept to understand their business problems/challenges and create meaningful and creative solutions that address these problems/challenges
**RESONSIBILITIES**
+ Develops logic for reports and data analysis utilizing functionality within Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL, Visual Studio), Crystal Reports, Epic Systems reporting tools and/or Tableau/Power BI or other reporting applications. Documents requirements and develops, delivers and maintains efficient reports, visualizations and dashboard solutions to enhance end users understanding of information.
+ Prepares and presents concise summaries to explain findings, limitations and recommendations based on initial analysis. Provides consultation as needed.
+ Uses and refines if needed increasingly complex clinical, financial and business requirements related to reporting applications. Works with key stakeholders to understand needs. Provides input on estimate requests to determine scope and effort required.
+ Understands and learns Electronic Medical Records (EMR) workflows to translate between the transactional system and the data repository.
+ Obtains and maintain Data Model and/or reporting tools certifications or training as needed and/or maintain current knowledge via self-study for reporting tools and reporting programming techniques. *Epic Certification Required within 12 months of hire into the role.
+ Performs proper testing and validation techniques to insure accuracy and integrity of reported or extracted data and document the unit test and validation processes used.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required;
+ Master’s degree preferred
+ 3-4 years of related experience required;
+ 1-2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ SQL, SSRS, Microsoft Visual Studio, Tableau, Healthcare information experience preferred
+ Experience with Epic reporting preferred.
+ Problem-solving capabilities and proven customer service orientation required;
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
+ Ability to work on multiple projects/assignments simultaneously required.
+ Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
+ Epic Clinical Data Model and/or Epic Revenue Data Model - Required within 12 months of hire into the role

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $48,000 - $95,000
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
