Business Intelligence Analyst: Analyzes complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets to locate influences. Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements. May provide consultation to users and lead cross-functional teams to address business issues. May directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools. Survey Tip: Incumbents whose focus is primarily on experimental design and advanced or complex statistical analysis and modeling of datasets should be matched to Statistician/Mathematician (5582-5586). This is a general role in which employees work with multiple types of business data. Incumbents whose focus is primarily on analysis and modeling of financial, marketing, or pricing data should be matched to Financial Analyst (6001-6006), Market Research Analyst (5601-5606) or Pricing Analyst (5521-5526) as appropriate.
