About the Job
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Junior (Jr.) Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is an Information Systems Division (ISD) employee who delivers focused reporting and business analytics for URMC, or in the case of an Embedded Analyst, a specific department (“home department”). The Jr. BI Developer partners with the requestor to understand their business problems/challenges and create meaningful and creative solutions that address these problems/challenges. Primary responsibilities include development of departmental and ad hoc reports in Crystal Reports, SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL), Cogito SQL or Tableau. The data sources are typically Epic Clarity / Caboodle data sources.
Specific to a BI Developer in a Department Embedded Position: The BI developer will partner with home dept to understand their business problems/challenges and create meaningful and creative solutions that address these problems/challenges
Position requires successfully achieving (and maintaining) Epic certifications in patient access and revenue cycle reporting applications and Epic reporting tools, including Reporting Workbench and Radar. Other data domains may require additional training and/or certifications.
**RESPONSIBILITIES:**
+ Verifies logic for reports and data analysis using advanced functionality within Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS/T-SQL), Crystal Reports, Epic Systems reporting tools and/or Tableau or other reporting applications. At the direction of senior team members, develops, delivers and maintains efficient reports, visualizations and dashboard solutions to enhance end users understanding of information.
+ Partners with the requestor to understand clinical, financial and business requirements related to reporting applications. At the direction of senior team members, assists with assessing and estimating requests to determine scope and effort required.
+ Prepares and presents concise summaries to explain findings and limitations based upon actionable insight. In partnership with senior team members, makes recommendations for changes as appropriate.
+ Performs proper testing and validation techniques to insure accuracy and integrity of reported or extracted data and documents the unit test and validation processes used.
+ Creates analytics content including reports, extracts, data visualizations and data views based on specifications created by department leadership. Utilizes the UR Medical Center's Data Repositories and supporting applications in analysis.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Science or Engineering required
+ 2-3 years of related experience required
+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ SQL, SSRS, Tableau, reporting and analytics project management experience preferred
+ Critical thinking and strong problem-solving capabilities preferred
+ Proven customer service orientation preferred
+ Strong oral and written communication skills preferred

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $54,808 - $76,752 Annually
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
