About the Role:
Job Summary
The Business Development Specialist (BDS) is responsible for providing strategic insight and planning for regional growth and development for the entire health system. Primary duties are to grow referral volumes from the 19 county region with emphasis on customer satisfaction, retention and growth using statistical analysis to identification of new referral sources. BDS act as a liaison between NGHS and regional medical providers, providing opportunities for specialists and service line staff to explain services and offer expertise in new and developing medical technologies and procedures. BDS may be the primary contact between the region and NGHS. The ultimate goal is generation of revenue and increased market share and ROI.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Develops sales and outreach plans to achieve identified business goals, supporting the organization's highest level initiatives. Tracks and reports performance regularly to ensure success. Uses market intelligence software to identify market leakage to best prioritize outreach efforts.
Works directly with service line leaders and other departments within the Strategy Division to develop and execute service line strategies for the region - identifying business growth opportunities, appropriate volume targets, opportunities to grow market share, etc.
Works closely with regional hospitals to support transfer of patients for tertiary needs as well as supporting local provision of appropriate services to keep patients close to home. Coordinates as needed between the Care Traffic Control Center, regional hospitals and NGHS physicians to ensure continuity of care for shared patients.
BDS is an integral part of developing and supporting new employed physicians. He/she will help to ensure a smooth transition into NGHS with development plans to acquire and grow market share over the course of the first year and as needed. BDS will work closely with Administrative Directors, Practice Managers, and PR to help physicians reach their volume goals. BDS will support and coach new specialist the first year of practice to assist in referral development and the success of their practice.
Works closely with regional EMS providers as well as EMS outreach professionals at NGHS to facilitate efficient transfer of patients to NGHS facilities for care.
Plans and executes outreach events as necessary, including provider-to-provider events and community screening and educational events.
Identifies operational and referral issues and brings together key stakeholders to effectively solve problems. Audits hardwiring of process improvements to ensure continued service excellence.
Develops strong relationships with providers throughout the region and identifies practice affiliation and/or acquisition options to expand networks and increase alignment.
Stays on the forefront of unique physician alignment opportunities, identifying business opportunities for the system.
