Position Summary:
The Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a critical role in expanding Charter Impact’s market reach through outbound prospecting. This role will focus on generating new leads, setting meetings, and qualifying potential business opportunities for the Business Development Director, while also maintaining a dotted-line relationship with the Senior Director of Development for strategic direction and periodic check-ins. Working closely with the Business Development and Marketing teams, the BDR will leverage email sequences, cold calls, and various outreach strategies to build a robust pipeline of potential clients. As Charter Impact’s first dedicated BDR, this role requires a proactive, driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct outbound prospecting efforts, including email sequences, cold calls, and LinkedIn and other socials outreach, to generate and qualify leads.
- Set appointments and meetings with potential clients for the Director of Business Development.
- Research target accounts and industries to identify key decision-makers and potential business opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, lead status, and follow-up actions in the CRM (e.g., HubSpot).
- Collaborate closely with the Growth Marketing Manager to leverage marketing-generated leads and content.
- Work alongside the Director of Business Development and the Senior Director of Development to understand client needs and fine-tune outreach strategies.
- Assist in refining messaging and outreach tactics to improve lead generation and qualification processes.
- Participate in industry research to stay updated on market trends and potential prospects.
- Contribute to the overall business development strategy by identifying areas for process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Generally, any combination of education that would provide the required knowledge and skills for successful performance would qualify. A typical method of demonstrating these requirements would be:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience in a sales, business development, or customer service role.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with outbound prospecting (cold calls, emails) and lead qualification.
- Familiarity and proficiency using CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot), lead generation data platforms (e.g. LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage prospects confidently.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment without daily direct supervision.
- Maintain, encourage and participate in a close and highly collaborative team environment.
- Understand and carry out directions in an independent manner.
- Learn the appropriate rules, regulations and technical procedures specifically related to finance and operations management for non-profit organizations and charter schools.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in market trends and business development strategies.
Experience with the following is a plus:
- Prior experience working in education, non-profits, or charter schools.
- Sales of services and solutions in finance, accounting, or operational services.

- Remote position, with potential for travel to conferences or client meetings.

- Occasional work outside of normal workdays and office hours to meet deadlines.
Compensation:
The estimated Total Targeted Cash compensation range for this role is listed below. Total Targeted Cash for this role consists of a base salary, commission, and other benefits. The starting salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and geographic location.
Total Targeted Annual Cash: $70,000 - $120,000 USD.
