Location: Minneapolis, MN Area
Summary of Position:
The Business Development Representative will play a dual role, responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities aligned with the services and solutions we provide, while also managing key top-tier key accounts. This position requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills and a proven track record in sales. The ideal candidate will be adept at balancing new business development opportunities with direct strategic account management responsibilities, to drive overall performance and achieve company objectives. New Business Development: This role requires results-driven, proactive sales efforts, identifying new business opportunities, lead generation, relationship building, developing strategies and tactics along with collaborating with internal team members to drive new customer acquisition.
Managing Strategic Key Accounts: You will be responsible for managing and nurturing our most important customer relationships, ensuring we maximize our growth potential with these dealers. The ideal candidate will be a) results-driven with a relentless and proactive focus on growth, have exceptional project management skills, b) innovative with compelling and inspiring ideas to grow our revenue and market share, and c) effective project management to ensure effective execution of key initiatives with strategic accounts.
Key Accountabilities- New Business Development
• Sales Revenue and Growth:
o Proactively drive revenue growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities within targeted accounts that fit the company’s Ideal Customer Profile, (ICP).
o Develop and implement comprehensive strategies and tactics to gain prospect alignment with a relentless focus on achieving and exceeding growth targets
o Negotiate and close deals with new clients.
• Identifying New Business Opportunities:
o Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the company's customer base.
o Conduct market research to identify potential clients and new market segments.
o Develop and maintain relationships with prospective clients through cold calls, emails, and networking.
• Relationship Management:
o Conduct face-to-face meetings and presentations to gain alignment with customer’s needs and demonstrate tangible value.
o Determine roles of key stakeholders within prospect’s organizations,
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
o Track and analyze key performance metrics for business development activity.
o Prepare quarterly reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
o Provide feedback and insights to internal teams to drive and aid in positioning solutions favorably.
o Leverage CRM as a central repository for account information
Key Accountabilities- Strategic Account Manager:
• Sales and Revenue Growth:
o As the Results Driver, you are responsible for leading the charge for maximizing business inside of the “market” of the account. You need to be bent on growth and be impatient to push things forward.
o Proactively drive revenue growth by identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities within top-tier accounts, and accountable for achieving business goals.
o Develop and implement comprehensive account plans with a relentless focus on achieving and exceeding growth targets.
• Project Management:
o Develop comprehensive project plans outlining objectives, timelines, resources, and milestones for key initiatives with our Strategic Accounts.
o Coordinate with internal teams and key account stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful execution of project goals, and accountability for the delivery based on agreed-upon milestones.
• Relationship Management:
o Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with top-tier key accounts.
o Conduct quarterly business review meetings with key accounts partners to review performance, discuss strategies, and identify opportunities for growth.
o Act as the primary point of contact for these accounts.
• Strategic Planning:
o Develop and implement strategic account plans to achieve sales targets, business objectives and grow our market share.
o Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., engineering, operations, marketing, customer service) to align strategies and support customer needs.
o Analyze market and customer trends, and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions.
• Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
o Track and analyze key performance metrics for key accounts.
o Prepare quarterly reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting successes, challenges, and strategic initiatives.
o Provide feedback and insights to internal teams to drive continuous improvement.
o Leverage CRM as a central repository for account information
Other duties may be assigned.
Professional Requirements:
• Ability to motivate and inspire a sales team, while also holding them accountable for delivery of results.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Innovative in identifying growth opportunities and effective at selling major opportunities inside accounts to aid in increasing revenue and market share
• The ability to quickly develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization up to C-Suite.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed (up to 50%) and take part in events outside of core business hours Willingness to travel as needed.
Education and Work Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of Sales experience, inclusive of both effective new customer acquisition and Key Account management preferably in the manufacturing space.
• Proven track record of:
o Achieving sales targets
o New customer acquisition.
o Demonstrated success in direct selling to key accounts.
