Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP, a global Am Law 50 firm, is seeking a hard-working, motivated individual to serve as a Business Development and Marketing Specialist.
We prefer candidates who can work from our Century City, Downtown Los Angeles, Downtown San Diego, Del Mar, or Orange County office, but will consider other candidates who can work from one of our other U.S. offices. The other offices we are considering are: Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Washington DC. There is only one opening.
*This position has a remote/hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation to be in the office on an as needed basis.
The Business Development and Marketing Specialist is a member of the Business Development and Marketing Department and reports to the Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager. The primary areas of responsibility include supporting the Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager on core marketing activities and projects related to the Real Estate, Energy, Land Use & Environmental practice, Energy industry team, and related practices. The individual will be part of a cross-functional team and should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong writing and organizational skills, be able to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines, have impeccable attention to detail and be extremely collaborative.

Responsibilities:
Support the Senior Business Development and Marketing Manager on a variety of projects that may include:
- Overseeing the collection of practice/team experience
- Keeping marketing materials for designated practices/teams up to date and helping to create new materials as necessary
- Researching industries, clients and prospects
- Updating content on firm’s intranet pages, including marketing materials, business plans, presentations, and other resources
- Updating practice group and team rosters on website and Outlook distribution lists
Essential Functions of Job:
- Drafting and preparing pitch materials and RFP responses
- Assist with developing marketing plan efforts across offices and supporting the implementation of the marketing plans for each group
- Providing marketing and operational support to sub teams within the practice and industry team
- Working with the events team to strategize, plan, and manage programs and webinars for clients and prospective clients, including building mailing lists and staffing programs when needed
- Managing the firm’s sponsorship of relevant conferences
- Track and report progress of marketing and business development goals
Qualifications and Experience
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant marketing experience.
- Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational skills, willingness and ability to work independently handling multiple tasks with multiple deadlines, attention to detail and a team-player.
Education
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Computer/Software Knowledge
Required: Strong computer skills with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of Programs.
Preferred: Knowledge of InterAction and Vuture is a plus.
Work Environment

- You will be based in one of our local Sheppard Mullin offices but will be allowed to work from home.
- You are required to come into the office on an as-needed basis.
- Overtime may be required as the job duties demand.
Travel Requirements
Minimal less than 10%.
California: The pay range for this position is $35.00 to $44.00 per hour.
