About the Role:The Business Development (BD) Manager – New Business is a pivotal global role that not only collaborates closely with Business Development teams and partners, but also leads and manages a team of professionals to achieve excellence in proposal development and delivery. This role involves managing a team of proposal professionals responsible for the development of high-quality pitch material that helps win new mandates. The BD Manager leads the assignment of pitch requests to team members, ensuring efficient and effective distribution of workload and management of team member capacity. The BD Manager remains fluent in the firm's client base, and practice and industry platform, and is positioned to engage with partners on pitch strategy to improve outcomes. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in Los Angeles. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:Other key responsibilities include:
- Engaging with lawyers to evolve their pitch approach, share client intelligence, and ensure high quality outputs to client requests
- Presenting to firm leadership to provide pitch data analysis and market trends on a periodic basis
- Coordinating with BD leadership to develop and deploy marketing and pitching strategy for the firm’s practices and industries
- Collecting market and client intelligence to help inform necessary changes to pitch strategy and key messaging
- Ensuring team members are properly trained on and kept aware of changes to our pitching process and best practices
- Coordinating global pitch support with other NBT Managers located in London, Dubai, and Hong Kong
- Developing team members’ career paths based on skillset and business need
- Providing feedback and guidance to help team members meet team expectations, evolving their careers, and supporting career growth opportunities
- Collaborating with other administrative functions within the firm, including the finance team, pricing team, compliance team, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and the general counsel’s office, to ensure alignment and sharing of relevant information
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Possess experience with direct oversight or management of team member(s)
- Display knowledge of pitch processes and the ability to utilize pitch management tools
- Possess the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a high-pressure environment and use critical and analytical thinking skills
And have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience managing and leading strategic initiatives with a focus on developing and managing credentials, proposals, tenders, or other written sales tools, as well as developing successful BD strategies and winning proposals
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in a legal, financial services, or professional services environment, or an organization operating in the assigned sector(s) (where applicable)

Pay Range:USD $145,000.00 - USD $165,000.00 /Yr.
