Overview:A leadership role that supports the overall commercial growth of our divisions by identifying and closing new business opportunities with both existing and new customers. The Business Development Manager will work across all market sectors to deliver programs that align with the company and division’s strategic vision. This role is designed to initiate customer relationships that can be scaled to long-term, growth business partnerships. The territory this role will cover is Utah, Nevada, Oregon, California. The Business Development Manager will directly support Divisions in Salt Lake City, Utah, Tualatin, Oregon and Union City, California.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Cultivate new business opportunities with prospects, existing house accounts, and dormant accounts.
- Develop sales strategies targeting key prospects, including an engagement roadmap.
- Provides leadership to assess, understand and deliver on customer needs.
- Coordinates communication between the customer and operations teams to coordinate customer deliverables, visits, and overall customer services. This includes both service and tactical elements of ensuring all customer expectations are met or exceeded.
- Coordinates with operations to identify and deliver new customer solutions that will enable business development, differentiation, and market segment growth.
- Initiates the Sales, Technical, and Project Planning phase of the Customer Onboarding process necessary to support overall customer growth and operational efficiency.
- Supports customer new product On-Boarding projects.
- Ensure purchase orders are complete and compliant with contracts.
- Ensure relevant standards, processes, and regulations are upheld.
- With the support of the Business Analyst, conduct financial analysis on completed projects and new products to verify margin/organizational goals have been met. Communicate results to key internal stakeholders.
- Help identify the profitability of products and segments to optimize organizational capabilities and growth of the overall customer portfolio.
- Work with operations and commercial organizations to expand customer offerings and improve the quality of existing programs.
- Understanding how different programs interlink/overlap and develop strategies to improve revenue performance.
- Develop and communicate with key internal stakeholders’ risk mitigation plans and processes.
- Reporting on key new business activity to the Commercial team, General Manager and Executive team.
- Participate in contract reviews and provide feedback to the Commercial team and General Manager on any issues.
- Work with the MarCom team to increase awareness of programs, new capabilities, and any reoccurring opportunities for improvement with regionally focused manufacturing customers, e.g., machine shops and material suppliers.
- Maintain and grow regionally focused manufacturing customer relationships – networking for opportunities with new programs and expanding Pioneer service with current programs.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve the Onboarding process. Provide feedback to each organization on areas needing improvement.
- Develop industry partnerships and strong customer relationships.
- Support Customer Care members by analyzing current roles and responsibilities and finding ways to Automate, Eliminate, and Improve tasks.
- Communicates best practices across all divisions to help facilitate efficiency and shared learning.
- Establishes Up-Front Contracts and sets expectations internally and externally
- Helps to resolve any order issues.
Work Environment
- Position is primarily located at the Corporate office, with potential to locate within a manufacturing site
- Requires collaboration with employees at all organizational levels.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or Engineering, equivalent experience will be considered.
- Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven skills in customer and internal communications.
- 3 years of experience in; business development / sales / marketing / project management / project leadership / engineering.
