The Role
Preferred location: Chicago
We are seeking a high-performing Business Development Manager with a strong track record of exceeding sales targets to drive new business in the enterprise software sector.
The ideal candidate is a skilled new business hunter, experienced in selling complex solutions to Director and C-Suite decision-makers. You should have expertise in enterprise-level consultative sales, a deep understanding of the MEDDIC qualification process, and a proven ability to engage Champions and Economic Buyers.
Key responsibilities include generating qualified sales opportunities, identifying customer needs, creating tailored solutions, and driving value to secure budgets and organizational commitment. You will be accountable for sales forecasting, pipeline management, and exceeding revenue targets through new client acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Management: Build and maintain a pipeline that exceeds 500% of sales targets.
- Sales Performance: Exceed new business sales quotas and meet daily KPIs through proactive sales calls and meetings.
- Customer Engagement: Establish customer needs, build rapport, and align Sedex products and services to those needs.
- Product Demonstrations: Conduct product demonstrations post-requirement gathering.
- Lead Generation & Qualification: Identify and create new business opportunities through prospecting, territory management, and effective qualification of inbound leads.
- Communication: Respond to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally, and maintain accurate records in Salesforce.
- Market Research & Analysis: Contribute to market research, customer segmentation, competitive analysis, and collaborate with Marketing on lead generation campaigns.
- External Representation: Represent Sedex at events and meetings and support additional sales and market research activities as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- B2B Sales & Product Demo Experience: Preferably in Business Intelligence, Big Data, or SAAS sectors.
- Passion for Sustainability and ESG.
- Experience in new business generation, consistently exceeding sales targets, and meeting deadlines in KPI-driven environments. Proven ability to create and implement comprehensive new business sales plans.
- Strong Communication & Negotiation Skills: Excellent presentation abilities and confidence in client interactions.
- Target-Driven: A clear understanding of personal KPIs and how they contribute to overall sales plans.
- Client Proposal Experience: Ability to develop ROI-driven and solution-focused proposals for clients.
- Revenue Forecasting: Strong forecasting skills for sales pipelines.
- Team Player: Motivated, collaborative, and able to work effectively within a dynamic sales team.
