About the Job
Our client is a leading construction services provider in the Midwest! They are seeking a motivated, sales-driven Business Development Manager with a true "hunter" mindset to drive growth and capture new business opportunities. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in sales within the lumber, manufacturing, or industrial materials sector, who can generate leads, build strategic relationships, and close deals effectively. You will focus on expanding our market share and selling our range of value-added lumber products to new clients in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, and construction.
Travel Requirements:
Overnight travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
Aggressively pursue new business by identifying, targeting, and securing new clients in key markets, including manufacturing, logistics, and construction.
Build and nurture strong relationships with decision-makers, establishing trust and credibility to grow accounts.
Execute strategic sales initiatives and achieve revenue targets to expand our market reach and drive revenue growth.
Conduct thorough market research to stay ahead of trends, uncover new opportunities, and position products effectively.
Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals, and demonstrations tailored to client needs.
Negotiate pricing and terms with clients, structuring contracts to maximize revenue potential.
Ensure an exceptional client experience from initial contact through to delivery, maintaining consistent communication.
Track and report sales activity, using data to assess and refine strategies.
Leverage CRM tools to manage and organize leads, opportunities, and customer interactions.
Collaborate with production and logistics teams to ensure product delivery and quality align with client expectations.
Provide insights on client needs and market demands to help shape product development.
Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, teamwork, and customer focus.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum of three years’ experience in sales, preferably in the lumber, manufacturing, or industrial materials sector.
Demonstrated experience with value-added products; experience with products like dunnage, hardwood lumber, custom skids, and lagging is a plus.
Exceptional sales and negotiation skills, with proven ability to close deals.
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect and communicate effectively at all levels.
Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office; experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus.
Self-starter with a proactive approach and a strong drive to achieve targets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt in a dynamic market.
Salary:
$100K - $120K/yr. + commission
