Business Development Manager (BD Manager)
Summary
The Business Development (BD) Manager is primarily responsible for new member acquisition and growth, enhancing community and Select Employee (SEG) relationships for Partnership Financial Credit Union (PFCU). The Business Development Manager will foster and develop strong, sustainable relationships within the communities and SEG's we serve while enhancing the credit union's viability and brand awareness. Leads the development and execution of strategic activities to forge new business relationships to increase membership and influence growth among organizations and communities.
The Business Development Manager reports to the Chief Operations & Strategy Officer (COSO). The Business Development Manager must be professional, sales and goal-orientated and prepared to take ownership of PFCU's overall business development goals. The BD Manager works closely with the management team and collaborates with Marketing to develop a strategic business plan and targeted sales initiatives. Leads, directs and partners with office leads and staff to enhance efforts by creating and implementing sales action plans to ensure growth goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
1. Owner of business development and member strategy and goals; ensures all related business developmental assigned goals are met; proactively leads growth.
2. Owner of membership growth and tracking; identifies and delivers on growth opportunities to support the strategic objectives of the organization.
3. Mentors Office leads within the organization in creating and obtaining sales goals and growth initiatives for frontline staff.
4. Execute strategies and actions that will increase membership and overall growth including cross-sell within the communities and SEGs we serve.
5. Create campaigns and events to support new membership growth and penetration goals; ensuring business development efforts are coordinated across appropriate offices, markets, SEGs and communities.
6. Supports the organizational goals and objectives; coordinates business development plans with the Director of Member Experience and Marketing department.
7. Establish, develop and maintain relationships that enable the credit union to increase visibility, brand awareness and create growth in a positive and professional manner.
8. Acts as a liaison and sales driver within areas of influence; identifies, researches, implements, and analyzes opportunities for increasing sales within the various communities and SEGs we serve.
9. Recommends, develops, liaisons and drives strategies and promotions within the organization.
Identifies, organizes and represents PFCU in various civic, community and SEG events to continually enhance brand image and exposure while seeking additional business opportunities; identifies and organizes opportunities for participation in community and SEG publications, newsletters etc.
10. Leads and coordinate PFCU Annual Scholarship Program across all markets, SEGs, Business development channels and communities. Establish, lead, and coordinate PFCU's charitable foundation across all markets, SEGS within communities PFCU serves.
11. Develops tracking, analyzes and communicates departmental reporting, business development activities and results for management review; develops and tracks annual development plan and budget to support organizational goals.
12. In coordination with marketing, manages the correspondence and direct marketing programs to potential and existing members, organizations and community outreach.
13. Functions as a business lead and/or project manager on departmental and/or organizational wide projects. Contributes expertise in his/her assigned area, executes deliverables and thoroughly explains business requirements to peer partners.
14. Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating and in a manner consistent with professional standards; works effectively and professionally with co-workers, peers, management, vendors and within the communities we serve.
15. Keeps abreast of industry developments including changes in regulations and technology.
16. Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures and Credit Union/Banking Regulations, adherence to marketing compliance.
17. Performs additional duties as required and may be utilized in other departments within PFCU.
Scope
The Business Development Manager works under minimal supervision, exercising independent judgement. Must be action, goal and service-orientated, sales and results-driven, self-motivated while being highly functional and ethical.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in a business or related field or equivalent job related experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the responsibilities of the role.
2. Minimum 5 years' sales experience in sales/business development. Experience in developing, deploying and managing marketing campaigns, a preferred.
3. Strong knowledge of solution-based sales techniques in a financial environment a plus. Credit Union/Banking experience preferred.
4. Ability to acquire an in-depth understanding of Credit Union products and services and recommend new products and services to management. Ability to balance strategic vision with near-term opportunities.
5.Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
6. Strong decision making and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and duties.
7. Results driven, goal and service orientated, self-motivated and able to work independently; ability to lead others and drive sales.
8. The ability to maintain the highest level of integrity at all times and trustworthy.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Microsoft Access and MCIF Experience a plus.
10.Travel among the areas we serve, including PFCU field of membership and all five PFCU offices. and must be flexible regarding work schedule including evenings. Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
Additional Information and Requirements
The Business Development Manager performs a major portion of his/her duties through verbal and written communications. It is critical that s/he possess the ability to communicate with clarity, while understanding and explaining complex situations to team members and outside contacts. Accuracy is essential and s/he must possess the ability to proofread documentation and correspondence to insure free of errors and fraud. The person will spend a good portion of the day seated at a workstation, but may also be mobile throughout the credit union for
purposes of meetings, working with others, etc. S/he must have the ability to lift, move or transport working material and collateral. Ability to lift, move and/or transport 50 pounds or more.
